CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Two men were sentenced on September 30 for residential burglary, according to Michael C. Carr, Jackson County state's attorney.

Nicholas C. Cuprisin, 21, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Andrew D. McIntyre, 34, of Carbondale, Ill., were charged in the Jackson County Circuit Court with residential burglary.

Cuprisin was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and Andrew McIntyre was sentenced to five years in the IDOC.

According to Carr, each will serve a two year period of mandatory supervised release upon release from the Department of Corrections.

On July 27, Carbondale police responded to the a home on Lewis Lane.

When they arrived, officers say they met with the victim who reported unknown suspects entered his home and took some items.

Officers determined the suspects got into the home through a window. While on the scene, they saw Cuprisin and questioned him about the burglary.

During that conversation, police say they also searched Cuprisin and found some of the victim's property in his pockets.

While interviewing Cuprisin, officers say they learned McIntyre was also responsible for the burglary.

According to police, most of the victim's property was later recovered from McIntyre's home.

Police say Cuprisin and McIntyre were later interviewed and admitted their involvement in burglarizing the victim's home.
