Carbondale police request safety volunteers for Halloween 'Pumpkin Patrol'

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The City of Carbondale Police Department is looking for volunteers to help with the City's "Pumpkin Patrol."

Volunteers will be asked to wear orange safety vests and drive vehicles that say "Pumpkin Patrol" during Trick or Treat hours on Halloween.

These volunteers will help to identify any potential hazards to children and will be asked to provide a safe place for children to turn to if they feel threatened.

The official Trick or Treat hours on October 31 in Carbondale is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The department has sponsored the Pumpkin Patrol since 1992.
