PERRY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A group of Perry County, Missouri students will pay their respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The seventh and eighth grade students from United in Christ Lutheran School in Frohna will lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery.

It's part of a class trip to Washington, D.C.

The middle schoolers will leave on Thursday, Oct. 2.

A teacher said trips like this make the lessons come alive.

"Seeing where our nation's government actually takes place and not just watching it on the news or in the movies, that maybe they themselves go back someday or be able to take their families back to visit as well, so," said Robyn Koenig, seventh through eighth grade teacher.

"I would like to see that Lincoln Memorial," said eighth grader Austin Fritsche.

Why the Lincoln Memorial?

Fritsche said because Honest Abe was very important for our president.

The classes also plan on visiting several of the memorials in and around D.C.
