MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department responded to a crash on Monday, Sept. 29 involving a car and a motorcycle on Highway 127 at Ava Road in Murphysboro, Illinois.

According to the initial investigation, deputies say witness statements allege that William Beers, 62, of Collinsville, Ill., was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Hwy. 127 when he was hit in the side by a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Laurie Wallace, 53, of Pomona, Ill.

Beers was taken to a Murphysboro hospital and later flown to a St. Louis hospital to be treated for his injuries.
