Cape Girardeau man charged in connection with robbery

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A Cape Girardeau, Missouri man has been charged in connection with a robbery investigation.

Tyler O. Johnson, 23, was charged with first degree robbery and armed criminal action.

According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, officers responded to  the Dollar General Store at 64 S. Plaza Way on Sept. 28 at 8 a.m. in reference to a robbery in progress.

Officers talked to the clerk who said that a black man walked into the store with a handgun.

Police say they clerk was not injured and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

With help from the Missouri Highway Patrol, police identified the suspect as Johnson and arrested him.

He is being held at the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department on a $100,000 bond.
