MARION, IL (KFVS) -

One group brought the fight against the Ebola Virus to southern Illinois, Saturday

The Hands of Hope Foundation hosted a day-long event in Marion to raise money to send supplies to Liberia.

The day featured live music, food, and activities for the kids.

The group has done mission work in Liberia before but the Ebola outbreak has prevented them from going back.

“Now our duty to fulfill that calling we had to go there and to do what we were going to do, involves having to help them fight that in their country right now,” said one of the organizers Josh Benitone.

Members say they have a lot of medical supplies needed badly in Liberia, but no way to get it there.

They say all proceeds from today's event will go toward defraying shipping costs.
