SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Horseshoes, toilet seats, plungers and tires were some of the sights at the 1st Annual Horseshoes 4 Everyday Heroes in Scott County, Missouri on Saturday.

Volunteers, spectators and participants were on hand throughout the day on Saturday competing against others in the horseshoe event at the Al Friga Farm.

People teamed up to play a unique horseshoe game where they used special wooden safety horseshoes and threw them to what some call “redneck items” to raise money for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties.

The program is designed to help veterans in the area who need help with everyday life essentials.

Organizers say that this is a must to help out the people that gave all for our freedoms.

They already plan on having a second annual event on September 20, 2015.
