$1.9 million grant awarded to Waltonville, IL

WALTONVILLE, IL (KFVS) -

The Village of Waltonville, Illinois has been awarded $1.9 million to develop a new road, along with water and sewer lines, in support of a proposed ethanol plant in the village.

U.S. Congressman Bill Enyart announced the award on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

"It's going to help in so many ways," said Village President Randy Dees. "It will serve as a new access route for our school buses, and it will benefit the nearby trucking company. It will also create 100 to 120 permanent jobs and another 300 construction jobs. We're just delighted that Congressman Enyart was able to get this project going. It's a win-win for Jefferson County and surrounding counties."

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration awarded the grant.

The EDA investment builds infrastructure needed for a new ethanol plant in Waltonville that will provide economic opportunity for rural communities within a 75-mile radius. The project will create employment and other industrial opportunities in the region.
