Crews called to downtown Perryville building fire

PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

Fire crews were at the scene of a building fire in downtown Perryville, Missouri on Wednesday.

According to Perryville Police, the old MFA building caught fire just before 11 a.m.

Police say the fire started when demolition crew ignited rubber roofing material and foam insulation with cutting torch.

The fire is out and the demolition will continue.

Fire crews were on scene putting out fires on the roof.

The building sits near the corner of Sainte Marie Street and West Street.

Police say the building is in the process of being torn down.
