Harrisburg shooting, robbery suspect caught in Venice, IL

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

A suspect in an overnight shooting and robbery attempt in Harrisburg has been caught in Venice, Illinois, according to the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

According to the sheriff's office, authorities were looking for 20-year-old Ian G. Hamilton in connection to the incident.

A dispatcher confirmed someone was shot several times during a robbery attempt near Casey's General Store. 

According to the Harrisburg chief of police, the department received a call of shots fired around 12:46 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Poplar Street.

Officers found the 26-year-old victim had been shot a number of times in his lower extremities. He was taken to an area hospital and flown to another hospital for treatment.
