Southeast enrollment exceeds 12,000

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Southeast Missouri State University says it has hit an all-time high as the university's fall 2014 enrollment exceeded 12,000.

Southeast now has 12,087 students and says it's surpassed last year's enrollment record of 11,917 students. That's according to the official fourth-week census report.

“Enrollment growth this year is attributed primarily to growth in southeast Missouri,” said Dr. Debbie Below, vice president for enrollment management and student success and dean of students. “Beginning freshmen enrollment is up as a result of an increase in new student enrollment from the state of Missouri. The number of new students attending a Southeast regional campus grew at every location. And similar to last year, dual credit offerings were added to more schools throughout the region.”

The university says this is the 14th year of record-breaking enrollments.
