TN man accused of breaking front glass of store

DYERSBURG, TN (KFVS) -

Police say a Tennessee man is facing charges after a store glass front was broken out on Sunday.

Robert Ramey, 37, of Jackson, Tennessee was charged with attempted burglary, vandalism under $500 and public intoxication. He was booked into the Dyer County Law Enforcement Center.

According to Dyersburg police, on September 2  shortly before 2:40 p.m., officers responded to a call of of glass breakage at H&S Market at 304 South Main. 

Officers say the front door glass of the business was shattered.

They did see footprints in the grass leading down the hill towards the railroad tracks.

During a search, officers heard tree limbs breaking and found a man leaning down trying to hide.

Officers say the man had a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech.

Police say video footage from the store showed that Ramey approached the business and broke the front door glass.

City court says he pleaded not guilty on Monday to the charges. His bond is $50,000.

He had a public defender appointed. He is scheduled to be back in court on Friday at 9 a.m.
