CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Cars were slipping around North and South Kingshighway Street in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday morning due to a grease spill on the road.

It happened sometime after 9:30 a.m.

One lane of northbound and southbound Kingshighway was shut down to traffic.

According to Cape Girardeau Police, a truck leaked the grease after a pickup from Chinatown Buffet on on S. Kingshighway.

The truck then went down Kingshighway leaving a trail of sludge up to the William Street intersection.

MoDOT and city public works are putting down sand to absorb the grease.
