Ambulance involved in crash on KY 91

CALDWELL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, KY 91 was blocked at the 20 mile marker in Caldwell County due multiple crashes.

This is between Princeton and Fredonia in the Dean Hill area. One crash required a victim to be extricated from a vehicle.

As the victim was being transported, when the ambulance was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

The preliminary Kentucky State Police investigation shows that Connie Beverly, 58, of Marion, was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt northbound on KY 91.

Jonathon Chewning, 27, of Princeton, was driving an ambulance southbound on KY 91.

The ambulance was transporting a 17-year-old patient of Fredonia, who was involved in an earlier injury crash.

According to KSP, as Beverly topped a hill a vehicle in front of her came to a stop. Beverly applied her brakes and swerved into the southbound lane where her vehicle struck the ambulance.

Beverly was taken by ambulance to the Caldwell Medical Center for treatment. There were no passengers in her vehicle. She was wearing a seat belt.

Chewning and the other two ambulance personnel, Jennifer Beckett, 57, and Jason Key, 43, both of Princeton, were taken by ambulance to the Caldwell Medical Center for treatment. Chewning was wearing a seatbelt.

Beckett and Key were in the back of the ambulance attending to the patient.

The 17-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Caldwell Medical Center then flown to Deaconess for treatment of injuries sustained in her previous collision.

Trooper Luis Palmer investigated the collision.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Department, Caldwell County EMS, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
