Councilman wants answers on Hayti Heights Housing Authority

HAYTI HEIGHTS, MO (KFVS) -

A city councilman in Hayti Heights did not like what he saw in some area apartments. Now he has some tough questions when it comes to money and repairs.

Hayti Heights councilman Elijah Green says he saw firsthand how bad the conditions were inside the housing authority. He now wants answers on how money is being spent by the leaders.

"Nobody should live in these conditions," Green said. "I for one really want to know where the money is going, the money that is allocated to fix these places."

Green says the issue has been discussed before at meetings.

Some tenants we spoke with say the conditions are fine while others say it's the worst they've ever seen.

"You can't buy nothing new," Lajoi Hill said. "I got a new microwave and its roach infected."

He says it has been placed on the agenda for the next city council meeting.
