HENRY COUNTY, TN (KFVS) -

The Henry County Sheriff's Office confirms a suspect is in custody in connection with a homicide investigation after the body of an 80-year-old man was found.

Bobby J. Dozier was found in rural Henry County around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, two days after he was reported missing.

In a press conference at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, the sheriff's office said a man has been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping and was taken into custody Friday night. Authorities say DNA evidence linked the suspect to the crime scene.

The sheriff's office reported that other people had also been arrested in connection to the incident.

Authorities say the body was found in rural Henry County along Olde Tennessee Trail Tuesday around one in the afternoon.Shortly before that, officers found Dozier's vehicle abandoned in a church parking lot in Paris, Tennessee.

The victim has been taken to Nashville so examiners can figure out the cause of death.

The investigation started with the Calloway County Kentucky sheriff's office as a missing person case, then Henry County was called to help search.

"We made a search in the dark and weren't able to locate him," Said Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew. "The investigation continued Tuesday morning. The cell phone had been pinged Monday around the Olde Tennessee Trail area and the dog, Mr. Dozier's dog had been found in Port Road. So, we concentrated our search in that area."

The sheriff's office says the man reportedly never leaves his dog's side, and his dog was found in Tennessee.

Dozier's home is in Clarksville Tennessee, but he has ties to the Heartland. He did own a lake cabin in Calloway County, Kentucky. No word yet on the significance of that location to the case.

If you have any information, contact the Henry County sheriff's office. The sheriff says there will be a reward.
