Doniphan man facing murder charges in shooting death

DONIPHAN, MO (KAIT/KFVS) - A Doniphan man is facing murder charges after a shooting this weekend.

According to Doniphan Police Chief Mark Rodgers, Michael L. Futrell, 56, of Doniphan has been charged with murder first degree in the deadly shooting of Manuel Williams.

Rogers says Futrell and Williams were at a home in Doniphan and had a verbal disagreement which resulted in Futrell shooting Williams.

Futrell is being held in the Doniphan Jail on a $750,000 bond.

Futrell is due in court at the Ripley County Courthouse later this week.

According to Ripley County Coroner Mike Jackson,Williams was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:05 a.m.

Jackson says Williams died of apparent gunshot wounds.

An autopsy is scheduled on Monday at 4 p.m. in Farmington, Missouri.

The Ripley County Coroner's Office is assisting in the investigation.
