(CNN) – It's been called the world's biggest food fight. Thousands of people spill into Valencia, Spain for the tomatina festival.

Every August, several trucks bring in tons of overripe tomatoes. Water cannons signal the start of the tomato fight.

People stomp, throw, bathe in and even eat the tomatoes.

The festival also takes place in other parts of Spain.
