Man arrested on warrants, including in connection with shooting incident

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

The Poplar Bluff Police Department arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident on August 10.

According to police, on Aug. 19 around 1:50 a.m., they got information that Christopher Gainwell was hiding at a home in the 1200 block of Bradley Street. He had several outstanding felony warrants, including charges from a shooting incident reported on Aug. 10.

Officers responded to the home and knocked on the front door. As they did, police day Gainwell tried to run from the home through the back door. An officer was at the back of the home and when Gainwell saw him, he tried to go back into the home.

Police say Gainwell was taken to the ground and a brief struggle, was taken into custody.

Gainwell was booked on a charge of resisting arrest and the following warrants:

  • Weapon offense out of Butler County on Aug. 11. Bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
  • Burglary first out of Butler County on July 29. Bond was set at $50,000 cash only.
  • Burglary first out of Butler County on May 20. Bond was set at $50,000 cash only.
