MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -

A Muscle Shoals Student got sent home for her red hair before the first bell rang on the first day of school. The Principal deemed it to be too distracting.

Hayleigh Black said she just wants two things: she wants to go back to school and start her sophomore year, and she wants her red hair back.

Now remember Muscle Shoals School Superintendent Brian Lindsey said he supported the decision made by the Principal to send her home. The Principal told Hayleigh's mom on Thursday if she wanted to come back to school, she'd have to dye her hair a darker red, or go back to her natural color, so that's what they did.

Thursday night, Hayleigh tried stripping the red out of her hair, and the process didn't quite get all the red out, but she was allowed back in school on Friday without any problems. She said even though she's not happy with changing the color, she doesn't want to miss any more school.

“I really want my red hair back, because it is a part of me,” said Black. “As you can see it didn't come out, so if I could I would just love to have it back and move on”

Hayleigh said she's thankful for all the support she's received.
