It's National Lipstick Day!

(KFVS) - July 29 is National Lipstick Day.

During the Roman Empire, lipstick was used to indicate social status.

In the 1700s lipstick was once a cause for annulment, according to the Coventry Telegraph.

A bill introduced to the Kansas legislature in 1915 sought to make wearing lipstick by women under the age of 44 a misdemeanor.

Winston Churchill refused to ration it during World War II.

A 2004 poll by research group Mintel found 81 percent of Americans wear lipstick.
