THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomasville man is recovering after being stabbed. The man said he was trying to steer his would-be attacker in the right direction, when the man snapped.

Danny Robinson said the physical pain of being stabbed wasn't the most painful part.

"People were like that man just stood there, the bottle was broke on him and he didn't say ouch or fall or nothing,” he recalled.

Around midnight on Sunday, Robinson, who is homeless, was standing outside Green Food Mart when a man asked him for a cigarette.

Robinson said he told the man that he would not give him a cigarette and that Jesus was what he needed instead. That's when he said the man got angry, broke a beer bottle and stabbed him with it.

“And he didn't like that so he said [expletive], female dog, and all that.”

Robinson believes the man was drunk. Police are still looking for the man responsible for the crime.

"We were given a slight description of the gentleman who may have cut the gentleman, but at this time we're still investigating trying to locate the suspect," said Lt Eric Hampton with Thomasville Police.

Robinson was able to scrape up the money needed to purchase pain medication, and says he doesn't regret his choice of words.

"See because if you're going to be bold then you're going to take whatever is going to happen,” said Robinson.

He’s thankful that despite some minor bruising he isn't hurt too bad, and his faith remains stronger than ever.
