DENVER (KUSA/CNN) – Amelia Earhart has completed her historic flight.
Yes, you heard right, but this Amelia Earhart lives in the 21st century. The former Colorado TV reporter finished her round the world trip on Friday, landing in Oakland, CA at the same airport that she began her trip.
Earhart’s famous predecessor disappeared while attempting a similar flight 77 years ago.
The modern Amelia and her co-pilot Shane Jordan traveled over 28,000 miles in 18 days.
She is the youngest woman to complete a round-the-world flight in a single engine plane.
Earhart and Jordan arrived back home in Denver on Monday morning.
"We were taxiing down the runway and we saw this huge crowd out in front of the Pilatus building, and it just goes to show that the community was really what was behind all of this,” Earhart said. “So we feel like we took Denver, and really the rest of the world around the world with us."
Earhart said the thing she missed the most on her trip was food.
