HARRIS COUNTY, TX (CNN) - A Texas man accused of killing four children and their caretakers was booked into a Houston jail overnight.
A 15-year-old girl was shot in the head but she survived, and called 911.
Authorities had said the children were either biological or adopted children of the shooter, but they now say none of the victims were his children.
The shooter is identified as Ron Lee Haskell, 34.
Harris County Sheriff's Office said Stephen Stay, 39, Katie Stay, 33, two boys, ages 13 and 4, and two girls, ages 9 and 7 were killed.
Officials didn't say what prompted the shootings.
Investigators say Haskell is separated from his wife, who lives out of state.
He was taken into custody after a three-hour standoff that followed a short chase with sheriff's deputies.
During much of the standoff, Haskell held a gun to his head, while deputies surrounded him with their weapons drawn.
