The U.S. Men's Soccer Team has had no shortage of support from fans around country. They have seen some of highest television ratings ever this World Cup.

But how those fans have been showing it has created a stir.

"I think the American flag holds a very special place in the hearts and minds of most patriotic Americans especially those of us who have served in the United States military," said U.S. Navy veteran Harry Dryer.

Many people fly the American flag regularly. Not many people wear it as a cape.

"As long as it's not meant in any disrespectful manner I find no problem with it," Dryer said.

After all, some veterans say the right to freedom of expression is one they fought for.
