CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago's 45th annual Gay Pride parade is scheduled to kick off at noon. The event comes on the heels of Illinois' same-sex marriage law going into effect earlier this month.
The four-mile route winds through Uptown, Lakeview and Lincoln Park and is expected to last around three hours. Numerous public officials and representatives from city businesses and museums will participate in the parade, which also features dozens of performing acts and decorated floats.
City officials have warned that fines for public drinking and urinating along the parade route have increased this year.
