CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say they've arrested a 57-year-old man for allegedly abusing a boy for six years.
WBBM-TV reports that (http://cbsloc.al/VtB0DK ) John Hays was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and will appear in bond court on Friday.
Hays is accused of fondling the Chicago boy repeatedly from 2003 through 2009, beginning when the alleged victim was 8 years old. The victim is now 19, and reported the alleged abuse in May.
Hays most recently worked as director of congregational life at First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, but church elder Kevin Murphy says Hays was fired after refusing to report to police.
Murphy says the boy wasn't a church member, and the alleged abuse occurred in Chicago before Hays began working at the church in 2009.
