(CNN) - A Sudanese woman sentenced to death for refusing to renounce her Christian faith has just been released, according to the lawyer representing her.

Mariam Yahya Ibrahim has now been reunited with her husband and is "ecstatic."

Ibrahim's marriage to a Christian man from the U.S. is considered forbidden under Sharia law.

But an appeals court has found the initial judgment in the case was faulty.
