SANTA BARBARA, CA (RNN) - High school seniors at Santa Barbara High School hired a mariachi band to follow their principal around school for an hour as a senior prank.

The Santa Barbara Unified School District in Santa Barbara, CA, posted a video of the prank online with a statement.

The district said Principal John Becchio discovered the band when he walked into the office at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Becchio was followed around by the band as he went about school business.

"It was a senior prank that delighted students and staff," the district said in the statement.

Santa Barbara's High School graduation, and the last day of school before summer, is June 5.
