(WAOW/CNN) – A pilot was killed Sunday when his place crashed at the Stevens Point Air Show in Wisconsin.
The accident, which was caught on camera, stunned those at the air show.
"He was doing his routine and it looked like he was coming straight down right behind the tower on the field and everybody said he's got to pull out, he's got to pull out and he just never did," a witness said.
"The single plane was performing aerial maneuvers when it went down," Stevens Point Police Sergeant Tony Babl said. "The 74-year-old pilot was pronounced dead at the scene."
Babl also said that while they've responded to plane crashes in the past, he doesn't recall any at the air show.
Organizers canceled the rest of the show after the fatal accident and sent the crowds home.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
