(CNN) – Many Brazilians are eagerly anticipating the start of the World Cup, but maybe not as much as one man.

Nelson Paviotti vowed to wear the colors of the Brazilian flag everyday if Brazil won the World Cup. That was back in 1994.

He is Brazil's number one football fan and just can't keep his passion to himself.

"It wasn't really madness, it was desperation," Paviotti said. "It had been 24 years since we'd won a world cup."

Brazil beat Italy to become the first four-time winners. And ever since, for Paviotti, it's been yellow and blue shirts, shoes and even underwear.

The Brazilian lawyer shows his midmorning snack of popcorn, cakes, and fruit, all in patriotic colors.

Paviotti has even painted his house and his VW Beetles.

A speaker belts out a personal tribute to the national squat as he drives around his city of Campinas.

"It's a goal, Brazilian fans!" the song goes.

Paviotti stays in character, even at the courthouse. As long as it's a suit, no one can stop him.

But he says he's just as dedicated to his side-job, getting Brazilians fired up about their team.

"We really need to win the world cup," Paviotti said. "There are a lot of people who don't believe anymore."

But it's not always an easy job in a country where support for the global sporting event plummeted to 48 percent in April from 79 percent when it was first announced that Brazil would host the World Cup.

Nelson is a bit of a mini-celebrity, getting people excited about the world cup and about Brazil everywhere he goes.

And if the team wins this time around, Paviotti says he will legally change his name to Brazil.
