ARLINGTON, VA (CNN) - Embattled Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki attended Monday morning's Memorial Day ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

He was joined by President Barack Obama and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, among others.

Both Obama and Hagel thanked those in attendance, but the president failed to mention Shinseki in his opening remarks.

No word on if the failure to mention Shinseki was just on oversight.

Obama was asked last week if Shinseki should step down over allegations that some VA hospitals tried to cover up long wait times.

The president said he needed more information but promised accountability if the allegations prove true.
