(WMC) - Federal Food Safety officials say recalled ground beef may have been shipped to stores in up to 12 states including Tennessee.

Wolverine Packing Company announced Monday it was recalling 1.8 million pounds of ground beef products.

They believe it may be contaminated with E. coli. They say 11 people have been sickened by the meat.

Food safety experts say you should always cook beef to an internal temperature of 160 degrees to kill bacteria and the color of the mean isn't always reliable. You should use a meat thermometer.
