Heartland road projects for 8/1

Here is a list of road projects around the Heartland scheduled for Friday, August 1.

Butler County, MO

East and westbound traffic will be restricted. Existing lanes of Route 67 from CR 323 to Route 160/158 will be signed as Route C. The north end of Route C (existing Route 67) will remain closed for about two months as work is completed at the intersection of Route 67, Route C, and CR 323.

Cape Girardeau County, MO

Beginning on Monday, July 28, a portion of Lambert Drive between Siemers Drive and Shirley Drive will be closed for repairs. The City says is a normally congested traffic area with many large retailers in the vicinity. The road is expected to reopen at 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1. During this project, accessing Walmart, Sam’s Club, Cape West 14 Cine and other retailers will be available from the north via William Street (Route K) and from the south via Arnold Dr.

Janet Drive will be closed at the intersection of Janet & Fairlane and Janet & Brookwood in Cape Girardeau. The intersections will be open.

Concrete street repairs are set to start on July 14 on Hopper Road near Clippard School in Cape Giradeau. The city says this will be the first of many repairs occurring this year. Work on Hopper is expected to last up to two weeks, weather permitting. Visit this link for more. 

Also, the city is installing installing large underground culverts to route stormwater from the Broadway Corridor to the Mississippi River.

  • This project is funded by the stormwater and sewer capital improvements taxes. 
  • Street closures related to this project include:Independence Street will be closed between Frederick and Lorimier starting July 14 for at least two weeks.
  • Fountain Street will be closed at Themis Street.Middle Street between Broadway and Themis, including the Themis intersection is still closed.
  • The east entrance to City Hall is still closed. We recommend using William Street for traveling downtown at this time.
Carter County, MO

Roadwork continues on Route 21 from Ripley to Carter County from US 60 to US 160 until Nov. 1.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 to discuss improvements to Route M in Carter County. The meeting will be held at the Carter County Courthouse, located at 105 Main Street in Van Buren, Mo.

Iron County, MO

Route A in Iron County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as the Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform routine bridge maintenance.

The bridge over Ottery Creek is located between County Road 63 and the Reynolds County line.

Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, Aug. 11 at 7 a.m., and the lane will reopen at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. The work zone, including the lane reduction and width restriction, will stay in place throughout the duration of the work.

New Madrid County, MO

Route 61 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform pavement repairs. The roadwork is located from Larcel Drive to County Road 824. Weather permitting, work will take place Wednesday, Aug. 6 through Monday, Oct. 1 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Perry County, MO

Work continues on north and southbound I-55 in Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties. The road is one lane from Route 51 to Route J/N at Ozora through Nov. 14, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Reynolds County, MO

Route 106 in Reynolds and Shannon counties is down to one lane from Route 21 to Route H through Nov. 1, for shoulder work and pavement repair.

Ripley County, MO

Route 21 in Carter and Ripley is down to one lane from US 60 to US 160 through Nov. 1.

St. Francois County, MO

Route W/Columbia St. in Farmington is closed starting May 12 as crews build a new culvert. This section of road is between Westmount and Hyler and will run until Aug. 15.

Scott County, MO

North and southbound I-55 will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction while crews perform bridge pavement repairs. The bridges are located over U.S. 62 and I-57 Interchanges. Weather permitting, crews will be working Friday, July 25 through Friday, Aug. 1 from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

Stoddard County, MO

East and westbound Route 114 will be reduced to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction as crews make pavement repairs. This section of road is located between Route AH and Route CC. Weather permitting, crews will be working on Tuesday, July 9 through Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

East and westbound Route 60 will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction while crews make pavement repairs. This section of road is located between Route AH and County Road 789. Weather permitting, crews will be working on Tuesday, July 9 through Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily.\

Ste. Genevieve County, MO

Route N in Ste. Genevieve County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. This section of roadway is located from Ozora to Holmes Road.Weather permitting, work will begin Wednesday, July 23 through Thursday, Aug. 7 from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Gallatin County, IL

Oversize and overweight loads are restricted on Route 13 westbound near Old Shawneetown at the Kentucky state line.

Route 13 east of IL 1 will be restricted until Dec. 31 near Junction.

Jefferson County, IL

The Illinois Department of Transportation would like to alert motorists traveling Interstate 57 and Interstate 64 in the Mt. Vernon area of the North I-57/I-64 Interchange Construction Project beginning July 21, 2014.

This will be on I-57 from mile marker 95 to mile marker 97 and on I-64 from mile marker 73 to mile marker 75.

The contractor will be engaged in patching operations followed by placement of asphalt pavement. Lane reductions will be utilized to perform this work.

Delays are expected. To avoid these delays, motorists are encouraged to utilize the marked detour routes. Motorist should reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution when traveling through this area.

Pope County, IL

Route 146 will be reduced to one lane from 4.2 miles east of IL 145-Flat Lick Branch until October 17.

Saline County, IL

On July 7, “OLD” Illinois HWY 13 West, will be closed between Hankins Road and 1/2 mile west of the Carrier Mills Road. This is for a bridge replacement, just west of Bankston Church Road. This closure will not effect “New” Illinois 13 West. The road is scheduled to be closed until September 12, 2014.

A second road construction project is the replacement of the roadway from Raleigh Road to the American Coal Mine on Illinois HWY 34 North. The north bound lanes of traffic will be closed starting July 7 until August 17, 2014. Northbound traffic will be detoured alone New Illinois 13 West to Harco Road. Harco Road has a weight restriction of 20 tons. Vehicles over 20 tons must use other routes.

IL 34 northbound from Raleigh to American Coal remains closed due to construction. Detour along IL 13 West to Harco Road. Northbound IL34 is not scheduled to reopen until the middle of August 2014.

Williamson County, IL

Beginning the week of July 14, a contractor will be removing trees, followed by earthwork, along Herrin Road at the east corporate limits of Herrin and extending easterly to Christmas Tree Road. IDOT says this will be off road operations with construction equipment periodically entering and leaving the work site.

IL 133 near Carterville will be restricted at Division Street until July 31.

Commerce Drive from Division Street to Brentwood Drive is under construction, and is closed for 50 days, according to IDOT. Work begins on July 28, 2014. Parking for establishments east of Brentwood will stay open. Access to the front parking areas on the south side will not be affected. The McDonald's employee parking lot will be accessable via Brentwood from the south.

Livingston County, KY

KYTC plans to close a section of U.S. Hwy. 60 on Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3. U.S. 60 will be closed at mile point 18.5 to allow a new section of highway in the Dyer Hill Curve project to be tied to the existing roadway. It is expected to close at 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 2 and reopen at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 3. A marked detour will be provided.

McCracken County, KY

KY 307/Lake Street in downtown Fulton, Ky. will be closed starting Wednesday, July 23. The closure is to allow structural repairs to a building in the downtown area. There will be no marked detour, however drivers may self-detour via side streets. Trucks should detour via appropriate state routes. The work is expected to take two or three days to finish, weather permitting.

Starting on May 27, access to the Paducah City Hall at 300 South 5th Street will be limited to the 5th Street entrance. Employees and the Paducah City Employees Credit Union customers still will have access to city hall from the basement breezeway. The 4th Street entrance will be closed, and access under the concrete roof canopy surrounding the building will be restricted.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to restrict traffic at the US 45/US 60 Business Intersection in Paducah.
