DYERSBURG, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Dyersburg police say a turkey hunter found a body in the area of the Forked Deer River Tuesday.

Investigators from the Dyer County Sheriff's Office and Dyersburg Police Department worked together to collect evidence. The remains were sent to the Shelby County Medical Examiner's Office for identification and to determine the cause of death.

Family members say the body is that of Curtis Tyler, 27, who has been missing since June 2012. His family believes the Aryan Nations are behind his disappearance. They say the hunter's discovery is a bit of relief.

"I've been praying for this day to at least find him and have some ease of mind," said Curtis' sister, Amanda Tyler.

Dyersburg police tentatively identified the man found in the woods as Curtis Tyler.

On June 30, 2012, he left his grandmother's house to spend time with friends. That was the last time he was seen.

"I wish it hadn't happened," said Curtis' grandmother, Judy Hutching. "I wish he was still here, but I can't bring him back."

When Curtis first disappeared, his father told WMC Action News 5 his son joined the Aryan Nation before getting out of jail in March 2012. Police were never able to prove that connection.

"It's no words that could express the pain of someone missing and hearing 100 horrifying stories," added Amanda, who hopes once the body is positively identified, police will work swiftly to find his killer or killers.

"He's gone and not coming back. All I have to cherish is memories. Every time I look at his little girl, I see him through her," added Amanda.

If you have any information about Curtis Tyler's disappearance and possible death, call Dyersburg Crime Stoppers at 731-285-TIPS. There is a $10,000 reward.
