PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Kentucky lawmakers could be one step closer to passing a pro-life bill that would affect women thinking about an abortion.

Sixty-three out of 100 representatives are sponsoring the bill, and the house is expected to vote today.

House Bill 575 would require an ultrasound before an abortion, and prior to the woman giving informed consent.

The woman can view, or chose not to view the ultrasound.

Chief Sponsor Representative Gerald Watkins of Paducah said he's heard from woman who have had an abortion, and wish they had this information before the procedure.

“This is a most important decision made by a woman and I think that she needs all the information necessary to make a valid decision that involves a life," said Watkins.

The bill would also set up a website to provide information about a pregnancy.
