A Cape Girardeau mom filed a complaint against the Cape Girardeau School District and recently received 130 pages of required standards that need to be met by the district. Todd Tumminia talked to the mother today and will have more on this story on Heartland News at 9 and 10.

A Chicago-based architect's study recently outlined Cape Girardeau's need for a bigger, much more secure police station, but at a hefty price tag. One of the biggest reasons why the police chief is pushing for a new building is the security issues with and condition of the upstairs city jail.

It's an exciting day for one Heartland family as they welcome another member of their family into the world and the little baby now has a story he will be sharing for the rest of his life. It won't be the only thing he shares. Baby Colton and his big sister Jasmine were born on March 5. So was their father and the doctor that delivered Colton. Kadee Brosseau talked to the family today and while some may call it irony or a coincidence, Colton and Jasmine's mother calls it a miracle.

Stocks mostly rose Thursday, lifted by a report that showed the number of people who filed for unemployment benefits fell last week to the lowest level in three months.
