Today, a Heartland soldier returned home to surprise his first grade son. Our cameras were there and you won't want to miss this emotional reunion coming up on Heartland News.

A train collided with a car near Halfway Road in Marion, Illinois. According to Marion police, shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, a passenger vehicle hit a Crab Orchard & Egyptian railroad train going eastbound on Halfway Road.

The Missouri Department of Transportation held a public meeting Tuesday, February 25 in Scott City to discuss the construction of an interchange south of Scott City. Dozens came out to look at, ask questions and input ideas on the proposed interchange that would provide a southern access to Scott City, as well as a connection from I-55 to Highway 61 at Kelso.

Farmers in East Prairie, Missouri are getting a new way to keep an eye on their crops this season. MRM AG Services is now using an unmanned aerial vehicle or UAV to keep an eye on customers' fields. The "drone" lets farmers see their fields from an eagle-eye view.

A Paducah man faces charges after police say he tried to call in a false prescription to a pharmacy. Timothy Carrigan, 25, was indicted by a grand jury on a charge of attempting to or obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, false statement or forgery.
