Notre Dame claims SEMO conference swim meet

(Cape Girardeau, Mo.) - The Notre Dame girls swimming and diving team captured the overall team championship at the SEMO conference meet Thursday at the Cape Central Junior High School Bubble, compiling 440 team points.

Cape Central finished second as a squad, with Poplar Bluff, Jackson, Saxony Lutheran and Perryville rounding out the field.

Notre Dame started hot from the first swimming event, as the foursome of Madison Heisserer, Megan Peters, Emily Todt and Caroline Schott won the 200 yard medley relay with a new record time. 

Heisserer then captured the 200 yard freestyle event and the 500 yard freestyle. Jackson sophomore Caitlyn Palmer also had an impressive showing, winning the 200 yard IM and 100 yard butterfly. 

The Missouri girls swimming and diving state championships are Feb. 21-22 in St. Peters.
