Charleston bank warns of phone 'scam'

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) - A Charleston bank is warning of an area phone scam.

According to FOCUS Bank, customers are receiving automated phone calls claiming to be from MasterCard.

The banks says don't give out your banking information. If you feel your account or personal information may have been compromised, contact the bank by calling 1-800-464-3150.

"It's an automated messaged that claims to be from MasterCard and asks customers to activate their card by pressing 1 and then the system asks for your 16 digit card number," said Anna Ferrell, Marketing Director of FOCUS Bank. "We have notified local authorities of the situation, and they are investigating."

"FOCUS Bank would like to reassure customers that no data breach has occurred within our system," said Ferrell. "It is very important to safe guard your personal information and never provide this information over the phone."
