Eddyville man dies after 3 vehicle crash

LYON COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - State troopers say Eddyville man has died after a three-car collision Wednesday in Lyon County, Ky.

Kentucky State Police say it happened on KY 93 and KY 293, shortly after 11:15 A.M. on Wednesday.

Investigators say Murray L. Moore, 46 of Paducah was driving a 2013 Freightliner delivery truck southbound on KY 93. Moore stopped at the intersection of KY 93 and KY 293. After stopping at the intersection Moore started to cross KY 293 when his vehicle struck an SUV driven south by James H. Smith, 76 of Eddyville.

Moore's vehicle then went into a spin and struck a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck that was stopped at the intersection on KY 1055. The pick-up was being driven by Thomas G. White, 61 of Eddyville.

James Smith was taken by ambulance to Caldwell County Hospital and was then airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:43 P.M.

Margie Smith was airlifted from the scene and is being treated at Deaconess Hospital for her injuries, where she remains in stable condition.

Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Lyon County EMS, Caldwell County EMS, Lyon County Rescue, Eddyville Fire Department, Kuttawa Fire Department, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, and Air Evac.

The investigation is continuing.
