Naugatuck man arrested after children found shivering outside

NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) -

A Naugatuck man was arrested after two children were found shivering outside in the cold on Tuesday.

Joseph Markey, 26, now faces risk of injury charges.

Police said around 11:30 a.m. they were called to North Main Street home after the two small children were found "wet and shivering" with pajamas on and no jackets.

The children were reported to have red faces from the cold.

They children were brought to a local hospital for observation, but were later released to their mother.

The Department of Children and Families was also notified of the incident.

Markey was released on $5,000 bond.
