We went to Perry County, Missouri for answers.
A number of viewers emailed us or messaged on Facebook about this story.
According to the folks at rough road rescue, they were called to help two dogs who had been left tied up outside a home in Brewer.
Some of the images are graphic.
We are told a neighbor tried to care for the dogs for a couple of days, but eventually called the sheriff's office for help.
Unfortunately, by the time they got to the home, the boxer had already passed away.
The rescue group wants to pass an ordinance to keep things like this from happening again.
"I believe that it's a mindset that it's just a dog or it's just a cat it will be fine to leave it out it will be okay," said Steve Svehala, Road Signs Rescue. "The requirements at a state level the regulations are very simple, its food, water, shelter and vet care. That's all it takes and if you show that animal a little bit of love it's just going to return it a hundred times over."
The rescue group was able to save a chocolate lab from the property. That dog is doing well.
We are told donations have come in from around the world after the photo of the boxer was posted online.
We are also told the sheriff's office is investigating this case.
There is no word on if charges will be filed but we are told the case remains open.
