Driver arrested after crash in Graves Co.

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Graves County Sheriff's deputies responded to a crash Saturday, December 7 and the driver was arrested for alleged DUI.

According to Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, around 4:16 p.m. deputies responded to the 11 mile marker of the Jackson Purchase Parkway for a single vehicle crash with injuries. The caller told them a gray Ford SUV went off the road and rolled. They then stated the SUV was leaving the scene, heading north on Parkway.

The deputy saw the SUV at the 18mm with damage to the driver's side. He conducted a traffic stop and said he could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the SUV.

The driver of the SUV was identified as 22-year-old Bobby Owens of Paducah.

Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and deputies say Owens was found to be under the influence of drugs. He was arrested and taken to a hospital for blood/urine tests, read the implied consent warning, refused an attorney and consented to all tests.

Deputies say they also found a set of digital scales in the driver's side door with suspected marijuana inside the cover. They also found a smoking pipe with suspected marijuana inside.

Owens was medically cleared and taken to the Graves County Jail. He was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, DUI 1st, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
