The Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander has prohibited a Cape Girardeau insurance agent from selling investments. Kander identified the suspect as Manzur Ahmed Mazumder. Kander said Mazumder is accused of fraud. Todd Tumminia looked into this and will have more tonight on Heartland News at 9 and 10.

More than a 150 people from across Southern Illinois walked up to the mic today at a fracking meeting to share their thoughts with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. All public comments, whether written or spoken, were welcome. Catch Heartland News at 9 for more.

Vernon's city manager explained in detail to Rachel Gartner about why city officials feel it appropriate to propose a $2.3 million levy that hit the city council floor Monday night. The proposal includes a 4.96 percent increase on property taxes for residents compared to last year.

The Illinois Legislature approved a historic plan Tuesday to eliminate the state's $100 billion pension shortfall, with a vote that drew threats of a legal challenge from labor unions but that supporters said was crucial to repairing Illinois' deeply troubled finances.

On Tuesday morning emergency responders, Cape Girardeau police officers, Scott County sheriff's deputies and other men and women in uniform brought an early Christmas to about 100 kids.
