INA, IL (KFVS) - The Big Muddy River Correctional Center is under lockdown after 88 inmates showed flu-like symptoms.
The total inmate population is 1,893. That means less than 5% of inmates were showing flu-like symptoms.
The facility was placed on a Level 1 lockdown at 8 a.m. on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.
On site medical staff are treating each case and assessing all the inmates for new cases.
No one has been hospitalized.
Those with symptoms have been given medication. Those in cells with known cases and on either side of cells with known are being administered the same medication.
All mean are also being provided in the cells.
