(KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Transportation will be making emergency repairs on Interstate 24 Tuesday.
The area impacted will be just off the Illinois end of the I-24 Ohio River Bridge between Metropolis and Paducah.
The road repair means crews will limit westbound traffic to 35 miles per hour for most of the day.
There will also be a traffic shift within the work zone.
Traffic on the bridge is already restricted to one lane for maintenance work.
Motorists headed westbound should be aware of traffic backups near the bridge at the Illinois mile mark 38.5 and Kentucky mile mark 0.0.
To avoid delays, it is suggested that drivers use the US 45 Ohio River "Brookport" Bridge.
Note, the Brookport Bridge is restricted to vehicles no more than 8-feet wide.
