CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Many turn to retail stores online for their cyber Monday shopping, but small businesses are stepping up their efforts as well.

The Great Outdoors Company in Carbondale try to persuade customers to visit their store as well by using a variety of online sites including Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Mickey Stewart, owner of The Great Outdoors Company, said they are posting sales and other content on social media sites along with their website to help compete with the competition. With the ever-changing ways of shopping within the past several years, he said they try to stay current with the ways people shop.

Stewart said when they post something online, they usually will see an increase of traffic and sales.

Plus if you can shop local, the money stays in the community, Stewart added.
