SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - Missouri Department of Transportation employees have helped southeast Missouri families through the Christmas Angels program for over 25 years.
Transportation Project Designer Jeff Wachter said in a news release that area businesses, organizations and people raised almost $5,500 and helped more than 100 children last year.
The Christmas Angels event will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the MoDOT Sikeston District Office, located at 2675 N. Main St.
Chili orders are due by 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2.
The event will cost $4 for a 16-ounce cup of chili, crackers and chips.
Current MoDOT employees and retirees will volunteer to cook, pack and deliver chili for the event. The proceeds will go to purchase gifts for children who would not otherwise receive gifts.
Volunteers work with the Department of Family Services to identify needy children in the area.
To place an order, please email email@example.com or call (573) 258-3277. Please include your name, address, phone number and requested time of delivery with your order.
Orders of six or more in the Sikeston area can be delivered.
Businesses or individuals wishing to donate to the Christmas Angels program may send or drop their donations by the Division 10 Highway Employees' Credit Union Office, located at 337 N. Main St. in Sikeston. Checks can be made out to the Christmas Angels.
