JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A Kansas couple was taken to the hospital after a crash early Sunday morning in Jefferson County, Illinois.
It happened around 4:40 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 57.
According to Illinois State Police, 62-year-old Charlie Taylor, Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas, fell asleep while driving on I-57 northbound at mile marker 86.
The car left the road near the median and crossed back over both lanes eastward before hitting a tree. A 57-year-old passenger was trapped inside and had to be extricated from the car.
Taylor, Jr. was cited for unlawfully driving on the shoulder.
